Foundation Oncology Skills for Nurses Working in Paediatric and Adolescent Cancer Care - 16th & 17 August 2018

This is a 2 day face-to-face course.


The Course Will Cover: 

The nurse's role and management of: 

Febrile neutropenia 

Blood products 

Nausea and vomiting 

Mouthcare 

 Tumour Lysis

A basic knowledge of the different treatment modalities and their side effects: 

Chemotherapy 

Radiotherapy 

 Stem cell/Bone Marrow Transplant


You Will: 

Gain an understanding of the nursing care needs of paediatric patients with 

haematology/oncology conditions. 

Acquire a basic knowledge of 

haematological disorders and solid 

tumours. 

Learn the basics of reading a treatment protocol / flowsheet & learn how to 

contribute to the assessment of infor-mation and support needs of children and their families. 

Explore how to assist in maintaining a safe environment for children in your care with haematology / oncology conditions.
