A developmental, relationship-based framework focused on active engagement in autistic and neurodivergent learners
This hybrid workshop will introduce the SCERTS® framework, an evidence-based, developmental, and relationship-based approach designed for autistic and neurodivergent learners. The SCERTS framework provides a common language, particularly around provision of support, where developmental capacities in Social Communication (SC) and Emotional Regulation (ER) are supported by our Transactional Support (TS). This hybrid format is interactive and participants will have the opportunity to share ideas, ask questions, and learn from one another throughout the day through polls, chats, and Q & A.
Learning outcomes:
Participants will:
Identify three domains of development that are essential for an individual’s active engagement,
Identify tools for writing evidence-based goals that include the role of the interactive partner for pre-symbolic communicators (children communicating with body language, gestures, and facial expressions),
Identify tools for writing evidence-based goals that include the role of the interactive partner for emerging language communicators (communicating with spoken words, gestalt language, picture symbols, sign language, AAC, or other symbolic systems),
