Advancing Leadership in Education (ALiE) Short Course

This short course is designed to provide healthcare educators with the knowledge and skills to become effective leaders in the field of healthcare education. The course will cover four key topics: adaptive leadership, complex systems, negotiating with integrity and sustaining leadership.

Course dates:

The course comprises of four sessions held on the following 2024 dates: Wednesday 6 March, Tuesday 9 April, Thursday 2 May and Monday 3 June, 9:30-16:30. 

Learning objectives: 

1. Adapting your leadership
This session aims to introduce the concept and principles of adaptive leadership and how it can help educators to grow and thrive in complex and uncertain environments.

2. Adapting to change
This session aims to explore how complexity thinking fosters a deeper understanding of the dynamics and relationships of the systems we participate in and how we can respond to uncertainty and change.

3. Negotiating with integrity
This session aims to develop the skills and knowledge necessary to conduct negotiations in a collaborative and ethical manner that benefits all parties involved.

4. Sustaining leadership
This session aims to explore the concepts and practices of sustaining improvement and collective leadership in complex and changing contexts.

Who should attend?

This course is suitable for all healthcare educators who are interested in developing their leadership skills in healthcare education.

Cancellation policy: 

Delegates are entitled to a full refund if they cancel their place more than 14 days before an event starts. All cancellation requests must be provided in writing to events.gla@gosh.nhs.uk. Personal arrangements including travel, accommodation or hospitality relating to the event which have been arranged by you are at your own risk. The GLA shall not be liable for the cost of these arrangements if you cancel your place at an event or if the event is cancelled or postponed by the GLA.
