Echo/anatomy correlation of Double Outlet Right Ventricle, Transposition of Great Arteries, and Congenitally Corrected Transposition of Great Arteries and Anomalous Venous Return
Monday 13 October, 09:00-17:30 BST
Course Directors:
Dr Beatrice Bonello, UCL/GOSH, Professor Andrew Cook, UCL/GOSH, Dr Claudio Capelli, UCL/GOSH
Event overview:
This innovative one-day course series provides an in-depth review of specific congenital heart diseases with echo/ anatomy correlation through Virtual Reality experience.
Led by a multi-disciplinary team of Consultants, Morphologists and Engineers from GOSH and UCL, this unique training offers an in-depth and focus review of several congenital cardiac anomalies.
This 3rd edition will be focusing on simple and complex arrangement of great arteries: Double Outlet Right Ventricle, Transposition of Great Arteries, Congenitally Corrected Transposition of Great Arteries and Anomalous venous return through:
- Echo /anatomy correlation through our unique, immersive VR experience
- Access to anatomical lab with hands-on sessions
Led by VheaRts - a collaborative project between researchers from University College London and clinicians at Great Ormond Street Hospital
Learning objectives:
- To understand the anatomical variability in the great arteries (Double Outlet Right Ventricle, Transposition of Great Arteries, Congenitally Corrected Transposition of Great Arteries and Anomalous venous return), and the challenges of repair.
- To identify the relevant information with echocardiography and understand the 3D anatomy from 2D echo images.
- To familiarise working with VR technology for future learning and planning.
Who should attend:
The course is aimed at Resident Doctors, Cardiac Physiologists, Echo Sonographers and Consultants in paediatric cardiology and adult congenital heart disease specialists. No previous VR experience is required.
