Tuesday 3 June 2025, 9:30-16:00
Join healthcare professionals, sustainability advocates, and innovators to explore the environmental impact of healthcare practices. With a special focus on reducing plastic use within the NHS, the morning discussions will cover:
- The health impacts of microplastics
- HealthCare without Harm Europe's Born Green Generation project
- Practical, pioneering solutions being implemented at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) and beyond to drive microplastic reduction
In the afternoon, GOSH’s sustainability projects (with a focus on microplastic reduction) will take centre stage. Following a showcase from each project team, we’ll close the day with our Green Champions Team Awards Ceremony to recognise and reward the winning projects for 2025.

What are the Green Champions Team Awards?
The GOSH Green Champions Team Awards initiative is an annual hospital-wide programme where teams across the hospital – both clinical and non-clinical – can take on a Sustainability Quality Improvement (SusQI) project. The aim of the programme is to get teams leading positive change and taking action to respond to the Climate & Health Emergency, Born Green Generation project, and meet our Green Plan (2024 – 2027) targets. It’s an opportunity for staff to collaborate and foster innovation with one another, with the aim of improving sustainability at GOSH.
