“PANTS” – An all-day paediatric nephrology-specific healthcare simulation course – aimed at improving overall safety in multidisciplinary paediatric nephrology care, catering to multidisciplinary healthcare professionals who care for children and young people with kidney diseases.
Course Overview
This is a comprehensive and interactive 1-day programme covering key common and rare renal emergencies in paediatric nephrology. With much improved nephrology care over the last decade and high functioning machine alarm systems, renal emergencies in paediatric patients are overall rare, but they do happen. Learning using simulation technology has shown to improve health care professionals’ confidence and knowledge base in dealing with these emergencies with overall improvement in patient safety and higher quality in care delivery. Candidates will be exposed to the innovative use of simulation for education and have a safe space to improve their skills in dealing with renal emergencies in a variety of situations.
The programme provides a blend of theoretical basis and practical simulation sessions, along with incorporation of human factors awareness.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Improve confidence in dealing with common and rare renal emergencies.
- Increase awareness of human factors in MDT working , especially in the emergency setting
