Foundation Oncology Skills for Health Care Professionals - 15th and 16th February 2024

This course is for all heath care professionals working within paediatric and adolescent haematology/oncology who not have a degree or advanced level oncology qualification. 

What you will learn

  • An understanding of the nursing care needs of patients with haematology/oncology conditions
  • A basic knowledge of haematological disorders and solid tumours

The nurses role and management of:

  • Febrile neutropenia
  • Blood products
  • Nausea and Vomiting
  • Tumour Lysis
  • Supportive Care
  • Symptom Management/Palliative care
  • Support for children, young people and their families

Basic Knowledge of the different treatment modalities and their side effects: 

  • Chemotherapy
  • Radiotherapy
  • Stem Cell/Bone Marrow Transplant
  • Immunotherapy

To complete this course you will be expected to attend both days and to complete a competency document in practice.

In line with current trust guidance relating to COVID-19 you will need to complete a health screening questionnaire prior to attending. Currently these days will be face to face, however this may be subject to change if circumstances and trust guidance changes. We will endeavour to let you know as soon as possible if any changes. 

PLEASE NOTE BOOKING PROCESS - Once you have applied for the course you will receive a confirmation email with a link to make payment for the course, using a credit or debit card (can be trust or personal). You space is not confirmed until this payment has been made. We will not invoice for the course, instead ask for payment to be made as above. If payment is not made by 4 weeks prior to the start of the course your space will be cancelled.

Cancellation policy: 
Delegates are entitled to a full refund if they cancel their place more than 14 days before an event. All cancellation requests must be provided in writing to the GLA Team managing the event. Personal arrangements including travel, accommodation or hospitality relating to the event which have been arranged by you are at your own risk. The GLA shall not be liable for the cost of these arrangements if you cancel your place at an event or if the event is cancelled or postponed by the GLA.

Booking form privacy notice:
The personal data you provide to us on the event booking form is being collected so that we can contact you with important updates about the event, ensure your accessibility and dietary requirements are accommodated (where relevant), process your payment, notify event partners or individuals shaping the event about the delegate list (only your name and job title/organisation will be shared. Your contact details will never be shared) and to pass on an evaluation survey after the event. It will only be used by the GLA for this purpose and the data will be securely deleted in line with GOSH’s data retention policies. This privacy information does not apply to the processing of your personal data by the booking platform Participant UK Ltd., which will be governed by their privacy policy.
