Practical elements of safeguarding in advancing practice

This half day session will combine learning from different aspects of safeguarding to increase knowledge, skill and effectiveness of Advanced Practitioners and Physician Associates working within a paediatric setting.


The aims of the course are to:

  • Provide advanced level knowledge and understanding of safeguarding conversations within the paediatric setting.  
  • Provide skills needed for correct safeguarding documentation and explore body mapping technique.


Target Audience: 

Trainee and Qualified ACPs, Physician Associates working in paediatric settings


Learning Objectives:

  • Increase confidence in safeguarding procedure to impact reporting and quality of referral
  • Learn appropriate documentation pathway to ensure clear, precise information throughout safeguarding episode
  • Increase knowledge of the process and procedure within body mapping
  • Provide knowledge to underpin advanced level safeguarding conversation with the paediatric setting
  • Change practice with practical skills that recognise communication barriers, challenges, and successes within safeguarding conversations
